Seven Lakes West is a gated community of more than 3,000 acres with a fabulous, 800 acre spring-fed lake named Lake Auman. Seven Lakes West has been voted as “America’s 100 Best Master Planned Communities” by Where to Retire magazine. Although many of the homeowners in Seven Lakes West are retired, there’s a great mix of all ages and interests, including a growing number of second home owners and many young families attracted to the great schools. There is something “Special” for everyone within the West Side Park Campus: our beautiful two-story Community Center with its numerous social functions, meeting and activity rooms, and lending library; and outdoors, the Center is surrounded by a swimming pool, gazebo, playground, tennis and basketball courts, and a nature trail. For the golfer in the family, Beacon Ridge Country Club is located inside the gated community of Seven Lakes West. Beacon Ridge is a Par 72 Golf Course, built in 1989 and designed by Gene Hamm. What could be more convenient than being able to walk or drive your golf cart to the neighborhood golf course?!
Lake Auman is truly a jewel of a lake. Because it’s spring-fed, the water is crystal clear, making it a pleasure for swimmers. Lake Auman participated in the Great North American Secchi Dip-In in 2001. Their report named Lake Auman as the clearest lake south of the Great Lakes, east of the Rockies and north of Silver Springs, Florida! It’s also large enough for great recreational boating and it’s not unusual to see dozens of colorful sails dotting the water for the summer sail boat races. Motor boats and pontoons are also plentiful and many residents enjoy an afternoon or evening cruise around the lake with friends and family. Skiing and other water sports are also popular. Fishing is, of course, one of the favorite activities of many of the Seven Lakes West residents and many “big fish stories” abound.
Inside the gates, there are 504 water front lots and 1182 lake view or interior lots. In the Beacon Ridge section, there are 230 lots, 222 of which are golf fronts. There are approximately 1100 existing homes. Prices for homes range from $1,800,000 to $275,000. There are generally new homes under construction in most price ranges as well as a great selection on existing homes. Seven Lakes West has recently added a new addition to its community. Morgan Wood features lots with more than 3 acres. These lots are zoned to accommodate home owners who want to own horses or those who would just like a large lot. There are 76 tracks of land, ranging from 3 acres to 15 acres in Morgan Wood.
My husband, Peyton and I built our dream house on Lake Auman in 2000 and have enjoyed every minute of living there. Our family loves having access to the lake and all the fun things to do. My grandchildren love to go out on the water and I’m sure when they get a little older, they’ll enjoy skiing and maybe sailing. Even if you don’t ski or sail – that would be me! – it’s great just to watch the clouds move over the water on a sunny afternoon. What could be better?! We have birthday parties at the playground at the community center for the kids and they swim all summer in the pool. Seven Lakes West really is a great place to live!
